A series of fortunate local meetings and events, also led him to be accepted as one of the few students of Bill Webb Bowen. A no nonsense Jutsuka of the old school, with much combat experience behind him, including the battle for Arnheim. At the age of 12 years in 1981,upon his fathers advice, Glyn also began studying Karate. This being in the Shotokan style under the eyes of Cyril Cummins Sensei. |

Together with receiving his 5th Dan in Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate at the Ryusyokai Honbu Dojo in Tomigusuku, Okinawa, from his teacher Shigetoshi Senaha Sensei 9th Dan. For well over a decade Glyn also trained personally with Sensei Brian Hinchliffe 7th Dan in the Art of Japanese Goju Ryu Karate. With this excellent base Glyn moved on to receive direct personal guidance from teachers in Okinawa on the how's and why's of the pure training methods of Okinawan Karate. Together with a deeper understanding of the many important reasons why the Okinawans execute moves within their training and Kata's in the way that they do. To date Glyn is presently being wisely advised and guided directly in the Arts of Okinawa Karate & Kobu Jutsu by the teachings of Shigetoshi Senaha Sensei 9th Dan Hanshi. Old style Okinawan Karate is an art he continues to practise, study, research, and teach at the highest levels and in all areas. Glyn has also been honoured to receive invitations to teach Okinawan Karate to various Dojo's around the United Kingdom. . |
| A few years later, a house move ment an imminent change in Dojo and direction. Giving Glyn the opportunity to experience a training variety of different Karate Dojos, Styles & Teachers. For a number of years Glyn was training in both Shotokan & Goju Ryu Karate. One of the most influential over a number of years being Slater Williams Sensei, a 6th Dan under Taiji Kase Sensei. Sensei Williams being a Karate teacher that Glyn has the highest respect and regard for, one Glyn speaks of as a formidable exponent of Karate. It was also during this time Glyn feels that he first experienced what he now believes to be elements of Okinawan Ti training. |
